Car Troubles

This past week was a blur and we didn't get a lot of time together so we planned a whole lovely weekend but our prefect plans went a bit awry.

I skipped school Friday and ran a bunch of errands instead. As I went to pick Kellan up for school I noticed the battery light in our car was on so Kellan took charge and we limped our way to Sam's where the car promptly died as we pulled into the parking spot. Perfect timing.

We hurried inside & bought a new battery thinking that was the end of our worries but after changing out the batteries the light was still on and we feared our alternator was going out. So we hustled on over to AutoZone where Kellan spent over an hour trying to take the car apart to get to the alternator so we could have it tested. We nearly missed our movie but Kellan busted it out like a champ and put in the new alternator in a flash. So we were out 200 bucks but I got to watch my handsome man in action.

Then we booked it to the theater in our now perfectly working car for a double date with some of Kellan's friends to see Big Hero 6. I can honestly say it was the cutest thing I think I've seen all year. It may be my new favorite right on up there with Up. Then to top off the evening we grabbed some delicious liège waffles downtown at Bruges. It just opened up in October but it's quickly become my favorite little spot for a sweet treat.

Growing Old Together

Kellan & I just celebrated our two year anniversary and while it seems crazy that it's been two years it also feels like we've been together so much longer than that. It's a little strange to look back at pictures of us and see, well one, how fat we've both gotten [yikes] & two, how young and baby faced we were! & while I would definitely love to get back to a size where I can fit into my wedding dress, there are also some things I'm especially glad I grew out of.

Some of those include:
Braces. yup, I had braces when we first met!
Wearing heels daily. Ain't nobody got time for that.
The rustic party scene. I no longer feel the need to chalkboard every surface & throw burlap on it just because Pinterest said so [a big thank goodness for that!]

I could go on and on, but I'll spare you and myself the embarrassment. The point is, I feel like we've both changed so much in the last three years but there's still no one else I'd rather be with.

Our first photo together (& the night I almost dumped him). Yikes we both look terrible.
"Oh, I thought you said smile pretty."

Playing House

This weekend we watched little Miss Shelby while her parents went on a fun trip to Park City with Jeff's work. I picked her up & we went shopping in Ikea where we bought her an ice cream cone she proceeded to make a cute mess with and a new toy panda bear. Gotta help her remember her roots somehow.

Anyways we ended up spending a little too much time shopping and we were about an hour late picking up Uncle Kellan so instead of getting homemade pizza we picked up some for dinner. If this is any indication of how we'll feed our kids regularly we're not going to get any nutritional awards. In our defense we did get Shelby to eat her veggies. It was her first foray with artichoke and it was hilarious.

Watching Tangled together, he's going to be such a good daddy.
It was all going great, until we tried to put her down for bed. She fell asleep very quickly but when I tried to move her to her crib she woke up and lost it. She screamed so hard she threw up. Twice. All over Kellan and our spare bed.

But even after all that Uncle Kelly is still her favorite and she loves following him around all over the place. Precious.

Birthday Bash

This year we threw my mom a big birthday bash, & by we I mean Jim, I just told people what to buy. Anyways, it turned out pretty cute and we had a fun time getting everything set up.

Actually it turned out the way I wish our reception had, simple & elegant, so it was a little bittersweet to see how much I liked it. & because it was so much easy to put together. I did spend a few nights getting together the table runners though because I couldn't see the point in spending a fortune for eight long table runners we'd never use again & I couldn't find any to rent. So I hand dyed about 20 yards of linen and then sewed them into runners, but that was really the most time consuming part about the whole set up. It was wonderful.

Oh, and we didn't have time to set up the cafe lights but c'est la vie.

Kellan & the cousins had far too much fun playing with all the candles and lighting the flowers on fire. Boys. But even with that the night went off without a hitch. It was an evening filled with lots of yummy food and good company.

After all the guests had cleared out we packed up all the tables and chiavari chairs and spent the rest of the night drinking root beer and playing Werewolf in the backyard. Perks of the Las Vegas heat.

We're excited for our next trip out for my favorite event of the year....  THANKSGIVING!!
Yum, I'm already getting hungry just thinking about it :)

Idaho Trip

This weekend we went up to Idaho to help drop off some things Paige left here & get her all ready for her first semester in college!! So exciting! We stayed with some dear friends & had an absolute blast!

Of, course we had to stop at Porter's for memories sake, and Leigh-Ann, also for her sake. & we gave Paige a little tour of campus. Turns out she has a class in the very same room where Kellan & I met! Precious! We were hoping the door might be unlocked so we could go in & take a picture of where it all began but alas, it was locked. So instead we went apple picking!

We were planning on leaving the same day as Leigh-Ann but our friends convinced us to stay an extra day & we got to meet up with another old roommate of mine & go bowling with her & her husband we'd never met. All in all it was a wonderful trip & made us nostalgic for the good ole 'burg.

Until next time Idaho.
