Hindu Temple Trip & Landlocked Surfing

This week was so good! I'd finished up my big project for class & we were just going through presentations so I read a bunch. It was so nice to just relax & get back to some reading. Kellan had a not so busy day on Tuesday though so we finally went & saw The Hobbit. It was so good & I'm actually kind of bummed that's the last one there will ever be. But I'm mostly upset the cute little dwarf & elf didn't get together! That was basically the only thing that kept me watching through all the yucky parts.

Friday I met up with an old friend who'd moved away to Texas & it was so fun to reconnect with her & some of the girls.

Then right after that dinner I ran off to meet up with Kellan so we could go surfing!

Provo Beach Resort has an indoor wave machine that is insane! I went there thinking it wouldn't be that difficult and it would be so much fun & while it was fun it was also so much worse than I thought it would be. The water has got to be coming at like 15 miles an hour & it was salty & when you fell, cause you would, it literally shoots you up and into a wall! I'm being one hundred percent serious people. And they don't tell you online how important it is to wear a coverup while you're doing it because it tears your suit off. No joke!

After a particularly intense spill, I started getting up only to realize my bum cheek was showing! Yup! There were people in our group date group watching & there were more people sitting on bleachers just watching! I can't even make this stuff up people! Luckily there was lots of spray & it wasn't much skin at all, it just felt really intense in the moment. But it was super embarrassing.

Thankfully all was forgotten after we finished up and grabbed some ice cream.

After such a late night we woke up early this morning to head to the Holi Color Festival! That's right folks I finally got to go. I've been trying to get Kellan to take me for two years now but he's always had a YM campout or meeting or something so we've had to postpone, but we finally made it! Was it everything I'd ever imagined it would be? Not exactly but it was still so much fun. I'm still finding color in my hair right now as I type & we spent forever trying to get it all out.

Let's build a house

So all of you already know, but I've been working on a big interior design project to design a home for a client. I picked Sarah & Jordan because their design aesthetic is wildly different from mine. I'm a little more modern & can't get enough color in my space. I mean we have a bright coral headboard for pete's sake! But anyways, I digress. So I picked Sarah & Jordan to interview & design for because it would be more of a challenge and they definitely did not disappoint. We also only had about a month to get everything together including finding a site and documenting said location & creating a whole building shell and creating a furniture plan for the house. Luckily the only contact documents we had to produce were furniture plans and elevations so we didn't have to do dimensioning for which I will forever be immensely grateful.

I tried to work on it while watching Shelby but she is a handful so I had to sneak in time while she napped and after I put her down for bed so I didn't get as much done as I was hoping to. I ended up pulling an all-nighter the day before it was due & finally crawled into bed at 7:30 to get an hour's rest in before heading to class. So it definitely wasn't perfect and had this been a real project I would have had much much more time & would have been in constant communication with my clients but despite all that I'm pretty pleased with what I was able to come up with.

So because this project consumed most of my waking thoughts for a month [I literally spent 5 hours one day trying to find the perfect location & let me tell you, trying to find a viable lot in a state you've never even visited with zero experience is no walk in the park people!], I'm going to overload you with pictures & the process. So sit back & strap yourselves in, this could take a while.

And then there were four

This week I went up to Salt Lake to babysit Shelby while Camillia & Jeff had their baby!
Camillia went in to be induced Thursday & in short time Joseph Phillip was born! He came in at a whopping 8lb 13oz & has the most expressive little face you ever did see.

While Jeff & Camillia were at the hospital for a few days Shelby & I hung out. We colored, went out shopping, read stories, made meals together & Auntie even got a little time in to work on her big project. Shelby watched a movie & colored her own things while I worked on my stuff.

Shelby wasn't allowed in the hospital because it's still flu season so we FaceTimed a lot with the new baby & she was so excited to meet little JoeJoe when he finally got home. Actually she was pretty distracted by the balloons at first, but once those got out of the way she kept fawning over little brother & giving him kisses. It was adorable and now their fun little clan is a family of four.
